Join us on Sunday, January 25th, 2026 from 10 am to 3 pm for an exploration into Black Musical Aesthetics with highly acclaimed educator Dr. Loneka Wilkinson Battiste from the University of Houston. Two active sessions that will define and identify musical examples and how we can integrate into our classrooms as well as experience active and culturally specific hand games and stepping activities to support our teaching.
Free to all participants.
4 credit hours of Act 48 available.

Whether you're an undergraduate just starting out, a new teacher finding your voice, or a seasoned educator seeking fresh inspiration, you'll discover new ways to invigorate your classroom—and graduate credit is available!
Across the week, you’ll explore hands-on instrumental play, design meaningful lessons, create welcoming learning spaces, and build the classroom culture you’ve always wanted. From crafting your own classroom puppet to moving through folk dances, drumming circles, and community events, each day is infused with imagination and collaboration. You’ll leave with ready-to-use resources, practical strategies for joyful and responsive teaching, and a revitalized sense of purpose.
