Phase 2: Plan & Approve
After selecting a program, students begin preparing on two parallel tracks: the host side and the ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ side.
On the host side, students complete the application and onboarding steps required by their exchange institution or affiliate provider. Requirements and timelines vary by program, so students should carefully monitor all instructions, forms, and deadlines shared by their host.
On the ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ side, students begin planning their academic coursework for the semester away. This includes researching available courses, gathering detailed course descriptions or syllabi, identifying intended courses and alternate options, and meeting with their academic advisor to discuss how proposed courses may fit their degree requirements.
Once the course plan is ready, students submit their coursework planning and approval sheet to their Education Abroad Advisor in the Center for Global Education. CGE coordinates the approval process with the appropriate academic reviewers. Final approvals confirm how courses abroad may transfer back to ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½, including credits, course equivalencies, and degree requirement designations.
Students should keep copies of their approved course plan and notify both their academic advisor and CGE immediately if their course schedule changes before departure or while abroad.
Phase 2, Students Will:

- Meet with their ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ academic advisor
- Submit their coursework planning and approval sheet to CGE
- Review final course approvals
- Contact CGE and their academic advisor immediately if course plans change
Course Planning & Approvals
Course planning is an important part of preparing for a semester abroad/away. Students should choose courses that support their academic goals and help them stay on track toward degree completion in order to remain eligible for their financial aid offer. Because course availability abroad may change, students are encouraged to identify & have alternate courses pre-approved.
Academic/faculty advisors help students think through how proposed courses may fit their degree plan. Final approvals are completed through ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½â€™s academic review process and confirm how courses will transfer back to ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ after the student’s official transcript is received.
